We have 2 NBA games on TNT today out of a total of 11 taking place overall. My attention has shifted away from the national spotlight though as I plan on dishing out my Mavericks vs. Cavaliers picks for today, 2/27. 

The game tips off at 7:00 PM ET and we believe the sportsbooks have made a mistake in one of their posted lines. 

 

Mavericks vs. Cavaliers Picks for Today, 2/27

Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Ohio is the stage set for tonight’s Dallas vs. Cleveland matchup, as the Cavs enter this one as massive favorites. This is mainly due to the return of a healthy Donovan Mitchell. 

Cleveland is currently in 2nd place in the East with a 34-19 record, whereas Dallas sports a 33-24 record and are in 8th place in the West. One thing that sticks out about the Cavs is this: 8 of their last 9 wins have come against teams currently not in the playoffs. 

Their January schedule was rather favorable, and even when they played the Bucks, it was in the midst of Milwaukee making a head-coaching change. To put it simply, Cleveland isn’t nearly as good as their record might indicate. 

The Mavs sport a winning road record this season at 15-11 and have arguably the best backcourt in the league when they’re hot in Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Adding PJ Washington has also helped the Mavericks, as they previously lacked a big, tough presence in their front court. 

The line here seems a bit inflated, and I’m looking to capitalize on it. If Doncic and Irving can outscore Mitchell and Max Strus, Dallas should be able to deliver at amazing odds.
