Avalanche vs. Blackhawks Prediction: Wednesday, January 8th

It's not often I am willing to back a goaltender making their first start on the road but given the matchup and circumstances I am backing Trent Miner and the Avalanche tonight in Chicago. 

The Avs are hitting their peak right now as winners of 8 of the last 10 and outscoring the competition 38-21 during that span. That’s complete dominance and while the goaltender they’ve had is not playing I’m not sure it matters against a Blackhawks team that has lost 6 of the last 10 and scores just 2.74 goals per game on home ice. 

Overall, the Chicago offense is the worst team in the NHL in terms of expected goals per 60 minutes in all situations at 2.54. On defense they aren’t much better off allowing 3.42 goals per game and Petr Mrazek with his 3.39 GAA will start in net tonight. 

This game is a massive mismatch and seeing as the Puck Line is the only bet worth taking due to the heavy odds slide towards the Avalanche let's take them to cover tonight.
