Blackhawks vs. Stars Prediction: Thursday, November 7th

Favorites have been extremely inconsistent to start this NHL season, but the Stars have not had those problems as they sit at 7-4-0 heading through early November. They have avoided the disappointment through top tier defensive play so far allowing 2.45 goals per game which is the 3rd fewest average in the NHL. 

Add in the fact they are playing a Chicago team that is scoring just 2.64 goals per game and in the top 7 in league scoring it could be a big time showing from the Stars tonight. Dallas is 4-2 against the spread at home this season and the Puck Line is the only wager worth making with the chalk being too much on the Money Line so for the first bet in this game that’s the wager. 

Adding onto the card for this game will next be a team prop fading the Blackhawks and their offense. I already mentioned their struggles but digging deeper they have the 7th lowest expect goals percentage in the NHL and are a terrible team when it comes to Corsi scores as well. 

Add in the fact that Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger is 5-2 on the season with a .917 SV% and you start to wonder how the Blackhawks are going to score goals tonight. As an added bonus both Oettinger and Casey DeSmith rank in the top 14 of NHL goalies in goals saved above expected as well. Give me the under on the Blackhawks team total goals tonight of 2.5!

 

 

 

Predators vs. Panthers Prediction: Thursday, November 7th

This could be out of spite, but I am tired of betting on the Predators to turn things around this season and they’ve burned me on a few bets over the last few weeks. Time to accept that maybe they just aren’t good right now and just attack them in the betting markets so let’s do that today. 

The Predators are dead last in the Central Division right now and already have a goal differential of negative 13! That’s hard to do just 13 games into the season but they have other troubling numbers as well. 

They rank 23rd in expected goals and scoring just 2.38 goals per game, that’s lower than Chicago, Montreal, Philadelphia and the Sharks! Not good company to be in at all. On the Panthers side they are rolling and in first place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 9-3-1! 

They have won 5 straight games and are 3-1-1 on home ice this season. They are 3-2 against the spread this season at home as well and are scoring 3.69 goals per game. This one could get out of hand quick tonight due to these trends so give me the Panthers to win in regulation tonight.
